Bridgetown, the lively capital of Barbados, is a city where history and Caribbean culture meet on the island’s southwestern coast. Founded in the 17th century, its historic core is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with landmarks that reflect both British colonial influence and local heritage. The city’s centerpiece, National Heroes Square, is surrounded by notable buildings such as the neo-Gothic Parliament Buildings, while St. Michael’s Cathedral offers a glimpse into the island’s Anglican traditions.

The city’s waterfront along Carlisle Bay is one of its greatest treasures, blending scenic beaches with maritime history. The bay is known for calm waters, shipwrecks popular with divers, and a broad stretch of sand perfect for swimming.

Bridgetown is also a hub of culture and community life. Cheapside Market overflows with local produce and spices, while Broad Street serves as the main artery for shopping. Layered with stories of sugar, trade, and independence, the city remains the beating heart of Barbados.
