Muirfield |
|
Home of the oldest golf club in the world, the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers also drew up the first set of golf rules. Muirfield is of a classic links type, though hints of parkland character are detectable. Muirfield was the first course designed in two loops of nine holes. It changes directions continually with the outward nine playing in a clockwise direction and the inward half playing opposite. The course features hard and fast greens, clusters of fairway bunkers faced with turf and fierce rough. |
