Royal Portrush   Royal Portrush

Royal Portrush's Dunluce course is considered one of the six greatest courses in Great Britain and Ireland. It was the site of the 1951 British Open, the only time the Open has been held outside Great Britain.

The course is described as spectacular, breathtaking as well as architecturally sound and subtle. It is the oldest course in Northern Ireland and the ruins of the 13th century Dunluce Castle overlooks it.

It is a magnificent links on the grandest scale with two unique qualities to set it apart from the rest. It is one of the most demanding tests of driving, the fairways are narrow and the rough is rough. The relatively small greens are full of tricky slopes although they do not rely heavily on bunkering. Many holes curve and dogleg just enough to make finding the correct line difficult particularly when the wind is strong.
