County Sligo |
|
County Sligo, or Rosses Point as it is familiarly known, is one of Ireland's great championship links. Established in 1894, the original 9-hole course was laid out by George Combe. Over the years, the course was altered and expansions were made. The present championship links was designed by H.S. Colt with a variety of holes to create a test for the very best golfers. Its greatness is highlighted on a seaside stretch of low sandhills, rumpled fairways and wild dune grasses. There is a feeling of remote splendor which permeates a landscape that is vast and varied. |
