Founded in 1885 by a group of Scotsmen, this was Ireland's first 18-hole course.
The course was closed and used for military training during World War I and then somewhat redesigned by H.S. Colt in 1921. The course is a traditional links design, with hillocks and sand dunes bordering the first several fairways.
