Portmarnock Old
Course
Portmarnock Old Course is located on a small peninsula that extends itself
just briefly southward into the Irish Sea, on the north side of Dublin.
In the early days, a road did not serve the course; therefore, the original
links course was reachable only by boat or carriage at low tide.
Ben Crenshaw calls
the 170-yard par 3 - 15th hole "the best par 3 in the world."
The wind blowing off the ocean can force the golfer to hit out over the
beach to allow this wind to carry the ball back to the green.
Surrounded by Dublin
Bay on three sides, the effect of changing winds makes every shot an examination
of your ability.
Portmarnock Links
Course
Portmarnock Links Course, designed by Bernhard Langer in 1996, is located
adjacent to Portmarnock Old Course. This is a natural links course that
features elevated tees and greens, blind approaches and acute doglegs.
This course features bumpy fairways and a total of 100 pot bunkers. Each
of the bunkers has been painstakingly and skillfully constructed with
steep revetted faces.
