Portstewart One of the great unsung and under-rated jewels in the Irish golfing firmament, Portstewart typifies the links tradition.
Portstewart's Strand Course has one of the best opening holes in the country, the magnificent par 4-1st hole is a dogleg right of 389 yards from the superbly elevated tee to an amphitheater-like green tucked away amidst towering sand dunes. Seven new holes were added, making it an even tougher challenge.
The front nine plays along the dunes and much of the back side is by contrast, farmland. The views that these holes afford are also quite breathtaking and at times quite terrifying!
