Lahinch Lahinch is known as "the St. Andrews of Ireland" for golfing atmosphere akin to the "Home of Golf." Bordering the Atlantic Ocean on Liscannor Bay, the original course was designed by Old Tom Morris in 1894 with alterations by Alister Mackenzie in 1927.
The course is a traditional links venue, with massive sand dunes and beautiful views of both the countryside and the cliffs of Moher.
The par 5-5th hole, or Klondyke as it is familiarly known and the par 3-6th hole, or Dell as it is familiarly known defy most principles of golf course architecture. They are commonly agreed to be defective in modern standards, however, remain two of the most famous holes in golf.
