Doonbeg    Doonbeg

Designed by Greg Norman, Doonbeg opened in 2002 and is the newest links on the west coast of Ireland. It is situated high on the cliffs and stretches along 1.5 miles of the Irish coast with rolling hills. With the Atlantic Ocean as a backdrop, this course has breathtaking views visible from the green, fairway or tee on 16 of the 18 holes.

The course has some controversial features including a couple of tees that require shots over another fairway and a largely blind third shot into a par 5.

Greg Norman created a challenge forcing the player to play the game of golf backward - from the green to the tee. Demanding strategy and accuracy for each shot. Challenging the player to a game of chess by finding the easiest way to play the hardest hole.
