Ballybunion Located on the Shannon estuary, Ballybunion features two of the greatest golf courses in the world lying side by side: the Old Course and the New or Cashen Course.
The Old Course has been regarded as the ultimate test in links golf, virtually treeless with sharp contours throughout the course. Situated extremely close to the sea with holes that run right along cliff edges, it has a wild beauty with long grass covering the intimidating dunes. It can be difficult when the wind lashes in from the Atlantic Ocean.
Cashen is arguably more dramatic! With the ocean on one side and the river on the other side, each hole is unique and challenging. The sand hills are massive and some of the carries required from the tee are immense. The natural, undulating and tumbling variation of the terrain makes this course a true test of golf.
