Sunningdale   Sunningdale

The prestigious Sunningdale club has two outstanding championship courses laid out in the beautiful Surrey countryside, about 28 miles west of London. Each course has its own individual charm, winding through heather, gorse and pine.

The more famous of the two courses, the Old Course was designed by Willie Park. The holes are lined with pine, birch and oak trees. Beware of the bunkers, 103 in all.

The New course was designed by Harry Colt and opened in 1923. It has more heather, tighter fairways with longer carries. It has exhilarating views across the wild landscape of Chobham Common.

In 1926, Bobby Jones shot, what many consider a perfect round, 66 - 33 frontside, 33 backside, 33 putts, 33 other shots - Not a 2 or 5 on the scorecard!

Sunningdale was host to the Dunlop Masters in 1956, Walker Cup in 1987, and the European Open in 1992.
