Royal Lytham
Royal Lytham & St. Annes

Royal Lytham and St. Annes, is a very unique and unpredictable course. It has been described as quaint, quirky and at times, very difficult. It has hosted The Open on nine occasions with many legendary and fascinating moments in championship history. Minnesotan, Tom Lehman, won here in 1996.

The windswept links course is lined with unique red-brick houses and trees that permanently lean to side as a result of the wind blowing off of the Irish Sea. When the wind howls from the northwest, there is no greater challenge than Lytham.

Royal Lytham is actually a mile-and-a-half from the sea, but as with any links course, you are as close to nature as you can possibly get. There are sand dunes, round blind mounds and hollows.

The course has sensational greens, firm and fast, that demand accuracy and strategy. Look out for both big wide fairways and narrow tight approaches. You have to play methodically and above all keep out of the bunkers - all 198 of them.
