Royal Cinque Ports Royal Cinque Ports

Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club, or Deal as it is more familiarly known, is located along a continuous dune in a narrow strip of land between the English Channel and farm grazing land. It runs in a northerly direction from Deal Borough to Sandwich Bay. Like all the early links courses, it runs out along the seashore and returns inland on a parallel strip to its starting point.

The terrain is undoubtedly one of nature's masterpieces. It is one of the few true, classic seaside links courses remaining in England. The fairways are tight and fast with many undulations. The greens, fast and true, are a delight. The traditional deep bunkers with steep, riveted sides are a challenge.

In 1909 and 1920, Deal hosted the Open Championship and was scheduled to host the Open in 1949 until the sea flooded the course.
